Sometime last week at Rocky Patel‘s 15th Anniversary event Rocky had mentioned the EO Brands 601 would be going through a redesign. According to Eddie Ortega Who had originally stated “we are re-designing the packaging on the 601 and will be launched at the 2010 IPCPR in New Orleans. Just the packaging. Absolutely 100% the blends will remain the same, and Pepin continues to manufacture the cigars regardless of what you may have heard through the grape-vines.” This is a contradiction to what was stated earlier by Rocky who had said the 601 Red Label would be getting a re-blend by Pepin.
Barry from acigarsmoker.com and our own Tom Johansmeyer got to sit with Eddie Ortega. While the comments started to come in about the newly designed labels they informed Eddie. Eddie’s response was that the labels would be slightly reworked due to the many other similar comments and that the 601 Red Label might see a slight tweak to make it just a little bit stronger.
We should also note that the 601 Black Label which was once the Connecticut shade wrapper will be discontinued due to lack of sales. Lots of good things are are in the works right now and we are excited to see the final released design as well as give the new 601 Red Label a try for ourselves.
