Last night at Rick’s Cabaret, I happened to catch a glimpse of what may be the world’s rarest and most expensive bottle of cognac. Rare cognacs from Remy Martin have a reputation for being expensive but this hits a whole other level of conspicuous consumption because the Louis XIII rare cask cognac will sell at around $1,750 an ounce at Rick’s Cabaret.
The new release will be limited to 30 bottles to the United States, and I personally saw two bottles delivered to Rick’s via a stretch Hummer limousine. The occasion was marked with a good amount of fanfare; photographers and videographers surrounded the limousine as the Remy Martin brand ambassador, Remi Brabant, donned with white gloves and surrounded by security guards, carried the two cases of rare cognac into the club.
What cigar would pair with this rare cognac? I don’t know for sure but my guess would be the similarly named, and conspicuously consumed, LouiXS.

Disclosure: We received free cocktails at this event — and not the rare cask!
